History
The first West Tennessee Quartet Convention was held in 1978. The Jones Family of Alamo, the Harvesters of Huntingdon, the Jubilaires, Good News Singers, and Brotherhood Quarter of Jackson, New Cavailers of Humboldt, and the Laymen of Brownsville were the first to preform on the stage of the famous West Tennessee Quartet Convention held in Huntingdon, Tennessee. The WTQC featured all the major gospel groups in the West Tennessee at a two-day event at the Carroll County Civic Center in Huntingdon, Tennessee. After success for the first couple of years, the WTQC was moved to the Jackson Civic Center in Jackson, Tennessee in 1984 and Union University in Jackson, Tennessee in 1985. It returned to Huntingdon, Tennesee in 1986 and has remained there since. A board of directors has always operated and governed the WTQC.
2008 marked the 30th anniversary of the West Tennessee Quartet Convention, but due to the death of the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Mr. Bobby Jones, the convention was canceled by the Board of Directors. The WTQC's 30th Convention was held in 2009 and a special tribute to Mr. Bobby Jones was given. The WTQC will continue to grow in the vison of the Board of Directors.
